The borough of Point Pleasant Beach is located in Ocean County, New Jersey, along the Atlantic Coast south of Manasquan, just across the mouth of the Manasquan River. Point Pleasant Beach is home to a population of more than 4,500 people, covering a land area of 1.4 square miles, including Gull Island.
Incorporated in 1886, Point Pleasant Beach sits on the Barnegat Peninsula, which divides Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean at the Manasquan Inlet. The borough’s original amusement area was called Clark’s Landing, which opened in 1892. Today, Point Pleasant Beach maintains a coastal boardwalk about one mile long, with the central third of it offering amusement rides, arcades, ice cream parlors and miniature golf courses.
